J.B. Pritzker’s Ammo Registration Act (HB-4414) is straight out of a 20th Century dictator’s playbook. It is designed to register every round of ammo we own in Illinois, so the government can confiscate it.
This is not a joke; this threat is as real as it gets.
Here’s what HB-4414 actually does:
- Requires all handgun ammo sold or made in Illinois to be serialized
- Requires all rifle ammo that could be fired in an SBR/SBS to be serialized
- Requires the State Police to track the sale of every round of ammo sold
- Allows the State Police to charge $.05 for every round of ammo sold
- Puts anyone who possesses unserialized ammo in a ‘public place’ in prison
