After ramming through deadly ‘safe storage’ laws last session in the form of Senate Bill 8, J.B. Pritzker and his allies in Springfield are hoping to massively expand this law.
Their weapon of choice is HB-1398. It turns your child’s pediatrician into a gun control activist.
Here’s exactly what the bill would do:
👉 Require pediatricians to ask children about guns in the home
👉 Force them to question kids about how the guns are stored
👉 Make them push state-approved anti-gun materials to kids
Here’s the trap: doctors are mandatory reporters.
So if your child ‘admits’ that his Dad has a Glock in the nightstand in violation of SB-8, your doctor will contact the State Police who will launch a criminal investigation.

Like the rest of Pritzker’s attack on gun rights, this bill has nothing to do with stopping criminals.
Criminals don’t take their kids to pediatricians.
Criminals don’t answer questionnaires.

HB-1398 targets us — parents, grandparents, and responsible gun owners — by turning routine medical visits into government fishing expeditions.
