Yesterday Democrats here in Springfield advanced the Glock Ban (HB-4471) out of committee on a party-line vote of 9-5.
Now the bill is headed to the Illinois House floor for a full vote.
And make no mistake about what this bill is designed to do. HB-4471 would ban the future sale of Glock handguns and similar firearms here in Illinois — targeting the most popular self-defense pistols in America.
During yesterday’s hearing, Republican lawmakers Chris Davidsmeyer and Patrick Windhorst did an excellent job exposing how absurd this bill really is.

(Representatives Windhorst (L) and Davidsmeyer (R) spoke out against this bill loudly yesterday. They know it’s crap.)
They repeatedly hammered home the obvious point that banning Glock handguns won’t stop violent criminals in Chicago from illegally modifying firearms.
All this bill does is make it harder for law abiding people like us to buy guns and defend our families.
And perhaps the most revealing moment of the hearing came from the bill’s lead sponsor himself, Rep. Slaughter.
Under questioning, Slaughter admitted that he doesn’t even own a firearm. Worse, he repeatedly struggled to answer basic questions about his own bill, constantly deferring to out-of-state gun control lobbyists sitting behind him for help.

(Rep. Slaughter, the lead sponsor of the Glock Ban, admitted he doesn’t own a gun and he clearly knows nothing about the bill.)
That tells you everything you need to know.
This bill was not written to stop crime. It was written by professional gun control activists who want to disarm the people of Illinois one step at a time.
And now they are trying to ram HB-4471 through the House before the May 31 adjournment.
That’s why ILFA must immediately begin ramping up pressure on lawmakers through digital ads, text alerts, email programs, and more over these final days of session.

P.S. Yesterday, anti-gun Democrats advanced the Glock Ban (HB-4471) out of committee on a 9-5 vote, sending the bill to the House floor for a full vote.
During the hearing, even the bill’s sponsor struggled to answer basic questions about the legislation and repeatedly relied on out-of-state gun control lobbyists for help.
Now ILFA must ramp up digital ads, text alerts, email programs, and grassroots pressure to try to block this bill.
